Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System is seeking a qualified Dietitian to provide high-quality medical nutrition therapy and nutrition education. The role requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to assess needs and develop individualized care plans across patient populations.

Responsibilities include documenting plans, tailoring regimens to preferences and cultural factors, and ensuring safe, efficient care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Food & Nutrition or related area; Master’s required if registration was obtained after Jan 1, 2024.
• Registered with the ADA Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensed with Texas DDLR; CPR certification (Heart Saver) within six months of hire.
• Experience/Knowledge/Skills: qualified professional experience for the ADA exam; strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Collaborates with the multi-disciplinary treatment team.
• Establishes goals for nutrition care, conducts assessments, and develops individualized care plans with ongoing evaluation.
• Provide medical nutrition therapy appropriate for patient age.
• Modify nutrition regimens based on food preferences, tolerances, and cultural/religious factors.
• Document nutrition care plans in the medical record with goals and recommendations.
• Provide nutrition education to patients and/or families.
• Ensure safe care and adherence to Memorial Hermann policies within budget and time constraints.
• Mentor and support less experienced staff.

Job Summary

Position responsible for providing high quality medical nutrition therapy to patients and clients. Areas of responsibility include assessment of nutritional needs, provision of medical nutrition therapy and nutrition education. The incumbent is required to function on a multi-disciplinary team as a resource to the physician staff and others. May participate in community service by providing nutrition education to various groups or individuals outside the hospital.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Food & Nutrition or related area. Master’s required if registration was obtained after Jan 1, 2024.
• Licenses/Certifications: Must be registered with the ADA Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensed with Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). CPR Certification (Heart Saver only) from either American Red Cross or American Heart Association or obtained within six (6) months of hire.
• Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Completion of a qualified professional experience required for the registered dietitian exam administered by the ADA Commission on Dietetic Registration. Must have the ability to interact positively with many types of people. Effective oral and written communication skills.

Principal Accountabilities

• Establishes goals for nutrition care of patients, conducts assessments, and develops individualized nutrition care plans with ongoing evaluation of nutrition status.
• Provides medical nutrition therapy to patients and clients appropriate for their age.
• Modifies nutrition regimens according to food preferences, tolerances, and cultural and religious preferences.
• Documents nutrition care plans in the medical record, including nutrition assessment, monitoring parameters, goals and recommendations.
• Provides nutrition education to patients and/or families that is appropriate for age, religious beliefs, and cultural background.
• Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
• Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
• Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences.
