Job summary

Fair Oaks Recovery Center in the United States seeks a Counselor One to provide treatment and support to help clients recover from addictions and related conditions. You will conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and deliver individual, group, or family counseling onsite.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in social services or a related field, state licensure or certification (SUDCC/CADC/RADT), CPR, and de-escalation training. Onsite collaboration is essential.

  • Experience in counseling field instruction or practicum preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct client assessments focusing on history, presentation and needs.
  • Perform ongoing assessments of chemical dependence services.
  • Participate in and document treatment planning and progress reviews.
  • Provide individual, group or family counseling with evidence-based modalities.
  • Educate clients and families on substance abuse and psychiatric issues.
  • Document care, treatment and incident reports clearly and promptly.
  • Provide crisis intervention and seek consultation as needed.
  • Complete aftercare documentation for assigned clients.
  • Act as liaison with insurance carriers as requested.
  • Perform case management to ensure quality care.
  • Offer educational workshops at the hospital and community.

About the Job:

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

The Counselor One provides treatment and support to assist clients in their recovery from addictions, such as alcoholism, drug addiction, or mental health disorders, assists with modifying problem behaviors; may also provide counseling services to families of clients.

Compensation: $25/hr-$28/hr
Must have a SUDCC, CADC or RADT certification to qualify

Roles and Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Conducts client assessments focused on identifying client history, current presentation, problem areas, ongoing clinical need for treatment and risk assessment.
  • Conducts ongoing assessments of chemical dependence services required by the treatment program.
  • Participates in and prepares client treatment planning and treatment plan progress reviews as assigned and documents as required.
  • Conducts assigned group counseling, individual or family sessions and implements evidence-supported treatment modalities as assigned and documents as required.
  • Provides client and family education relative to substance abuse/psychiatric problems.
  • Ensures all documentation regarding client care, treatment and incidents is completed timely and in a clear, concise manner.
  • Provides crisis intervention to clients, as needed, and seeks consultation as appropriate.
  • Plans for and completes required documentation of aftercare for assigned clients.
  • Acts as a liaison with insurance carriers, as requested.
  • Provides case management duties for clients, ensuring individualized quality care.
  • Conducts educational workshops both within the Hospital and in the community as required.
  • Serves as a liaison with self-help groups and EAP professionals.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in social services, addiction, mental health or closely related health services field.
  • Degree must be from an accredited college or university.
  • Professional experience is not required, but experience in counseling field instruction/internship or similar practicum training is preferred.
LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Must have current and valid licensure or certification as a social worker, professional counselor, therapist or addiction counselor per state agency, including entry level licenses as issued by the state.
  • CPR certification and de-escalation training required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility.
WORK LOCATION:

This position is onsite and is not a remote position.

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:

This position is an Individual Contributor.
