Job summary

Twin Lakes Recovery Center is seeking a Counselor One to provide treatment and support for clients recovering from addictions and mental health disorders. This onsite role focuses on counseling, treatment planning, and case management to ensure individualized, high-quality care.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in social services or related field; licensure is preferred but not required initially. Competitive benefits are offered and the center supports professional development.

Qualifications

• Professional experience is not required, but experience in counseling field instruction/internship or practicum training is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conducts client assessments focused on history, presentation, problem areas, treatment needs and risk.
• Performs ongoing assessments of chemical dependence services required by the program.
• Participates in and documents client treatment planning and progress reviews.
• Conducts group, individual or family counseling sessions using evidence-based modalities and documents results.
• Provides client and family education on substance abuse/psychiatric issues.
• Ensures documentation about client care and incidents is timely and clear.
• Provides crisis intervention to clients as needed and seeks consultation as appropriate.
• Plans for and completes documentation of aftercare for assigned clients.
• Acts as a liaison with insurance carriers as requested.
• Provides case management to ensure individualized quality care.
• Conducts educational workshops in hospital and community settings.
• Serves as liaison with self-help groups and EAP professionals.

About the Job

Purpose Statement: The Counselor One provides treatment and support to assist clients in their recovery from addictions, such as alcoholism, drug addiction, or mental health disorders, assists with modifying problem behaviors; may also provide counseling services to families of clients.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Conducts client assessments focused on identifying client history, current presentation, problem areas, ongoing clinical need for treatment and risk assessment.
• Conducts ongoing assessments of chemical dependence services required by the treatment program.
• Participates in and prepares client treatment planning and treatment plan progress reviews as assigned and documents as required.
• Conducts assigned group counseling, individual or family sessions and implements evidence-supported treatment modalities as assigned and documents as required.
• Provides client and family education relative to substance abuse/psychiatric problems.
• Ensures all documentation regarding client care, treatment and incidents is completed timely and in a clear, concise manner.
• Provides crisis intervention to clients, as needed, and seeks consultation as appropriate.
• Plans for and completes required documentation of aftercare for assigned clients.
• Acts as a liaison with insurance carriers, as requested.
• Provides case management duties for clients, ensuring individualized quality care.
• Conducts educational workshops both within the Hospital and in the community as required.
• Serves as a liaison with self‑help groups and EAP professionals.

Education / Experience / Skill Requirements

Requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in social services, addiction, mental health or closely related health services field. Degree must be from an accredited college or university. Professional experience is not required, but experience in counseling field instruction/internship or similar practicum training is preferred.

Licenses / Designations / Certifications

• Must have current and valid licensure or certification as a social worker, professional counselor, therapist or addiction counselor per state agency, including entry level licenses as issued by the state.
• CPR certification and de-escalation training required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility.

Work Location

This position is onsite and is not a remote position.
