Job summary

Fair Oaks Recovery Center in Alabama seeks a Counselor One to provide treatment and support to clients recovering from addictions and co-occurring disorders. You will conduct assessments, help modify problem behaviors, and may counsel families.

Compensation is $25–$28 per hour and the role is on-site. You must hold a bachelor’s degree in social services, addiction, mental health or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social services, addiction, mental health or closely related field from an accredited college or university.
• Professional experience not required, but counseling field instruction/internship preferred.
• Must have current licensure or certification as a social worker, professional counselor, therapist or addiction counselor per state agency, including entry level licenses.

Responsibilities

• Conduct client assessments focused on identifying history, current presentation, problem areas, ongoing clinical need for treatment and risk assessment.
• Conduct ongoing assessments of chemical dependence services required by the treatment program.
• Participate in and prepare client treatment planning and progress reviews, and document as required.
• Provide group, individual, or family counseling and implement evidence-supported treatment modalities and document accordingly.
• Educate clients and families regarding substance abuse/psychiatric problems.
• Ensure all documentation regarding client care, treatment and incidents is completed timely and clearly.
• Provide crisis intervention as needed and seek consultation as appropriate.
• Plan for and complete aftercare documentation for assigned clients.
• Act as liaison with insurance carriers and perform case management duties for clients.
• Conduct educational workshops within the hospital and in the community as required.
• Liaise with self-help groups and EAP professionals.

About the Job

Purpose Statement:
The Counselor One provides treatment and support to assist clients in their recovery from addictions, such as alcoholism, drug addiction, or mental health disorders, assists with modifying problem behaviors; may also provide counseling services to families of clients.
Compensation: $25/hr-$28/hr
Must have a SUDCC, CADC or RADT certification to qualify

Roles and Responsibilities

• Conducts client assessments focused on identifying client history, current presentation, problem areas, ongoing clinical need for treatment and risk assessment.
• Conducts ongoing assessments of chemical dependence services required by the treatment program.
• Participates in and prepares client treatment planning and treatment plan progress reviews as assigned and documents as required.
• Conducts assigned group counseling, individual or family sessions and implements evidence-supported treatment modalities as assigned and documents as required.
• Provides client and family education relative to substance abuse/psychiatric problems.
• Ensures all documentation regarding client care, treatment and incidents is completed timely and in a clear, concise manner.
• Provides crisis intervention to clients, as needed, and seeks consultation as appropriate.
• Plans for and completes required documentation of aftercare for assigned clients.
• Acts as a liaison with insurance carriers, as requested.
• Provides case management duties for clients, ensuring individualized quality care.
• Conducts educational workshops both within the Hospital and in the community as required.
• Serves as a liaison with self-help groups and EAP professionals.

Education/Experience/Skill Requirements

• Requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in social services, addiction, mental health or closely related health services field.
• Degree must be from an accredited college or university.
• Professional experience is not required, but experience in counseling field instruction/internship or similar practicum training is preferred.

Licenses/Designations/Certifications

• Must have current and valid licensure or certification as a social worker, professional counselor, therapist or addiction counselor per state agency, including entry level licenses as issued by the state.
• CPR certification and de-escalation training required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility.

Work Location

This position is onsite and is not a remote position.
