Job summary

UT Health ET Home Health is seeking a PRN Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in Tyler, TX to work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. You will implement individualized treatment plans and provide patient-centered activities to improve strength, mobility, and daily living skills in home health settings.

Responsibilities include monitoring progress, educating patients and caregivers, maintaining proper documentation, and adhering to infection-control practices.

Qualifications

• Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant license in the state of practice.
• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.

Responsibilities

• Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Provide therapeutic activities and exercises to improve patients’ strength, coordination, mobility, and functional independence.
• Assist patients with developing or restoring skills needed for daily living and self-care.
• Monitor patient progress and communicate changes or concerns to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic activities, adaptive techniques, and equipment use.
• Follow infection-control practices and standard precautions during all patient-care activities.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and members of the interdisciplinary care team.
• Support the agency’s mission, policies, and standards of care.
