Position Overview

We are currently looking for an experienced Cook to work PRN or "as needed" within our Skilled Nursing and Rehab community of The Wesleyan. Proven experience working as a cook or prep cook in a restaurant, healthcare, education, or senior living environment, along with a passion for caring through meal preparation, is essential.

Schedule

• This position requires flexible availability, with shifts starting as early as 5:00AM or ending as late as 7:30PM, including weekends.

Essential Job Functions

• Produce all food items according to recipes and directions, including preparation, seasoning, cooking, carving, and serving.
• Follow recipes and preparation techniques such as cook-to-order and cook/chill.
• Prepare recipes for special diets like pureed or mechanical soft diets.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely, including ovens, mixers, kettles, steamers, grills, knives, fryers, and scales.
• Present dishes appealingly.
• Implement proper food handling and storage practices.
• Provide high-quality meals for residents.

Qualifications & Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1-2 years of experience as a cook, grill cook, or line cook required; schooling and experience considered.
• Additional culinary coursework desirable.
• Basic math skills for forms and schedules.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Servant-minded approach and passion for senior living communities are a plus.
• Alignment with The Wesleyan's culture and values.
