Children's Health seeks a registered nurse to provide direct patient care, collaborate on comprehensive care plans, and ensure high-quality standards. The PRN Commit program is designed to address seasonal surges in patient volumes. Participants commit to a 16-week assignment, with potential extensions based on staffing needs. This is an as-needed position; external hires should be available for at least 3 shifts per week during peak seasons. A completion payout is available at the end of each 16-week period.
Summary: Performs the functions of a registered nurse in direct patient care, utilizing the nursing process to deliver developmentally appropriate care. Collaborates with healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive care plans tailored to patient and family needs.
Responsibilities:
* Prescribes, delegates, and coordinates patient care, applying clinical judgment and evidence-based guidelines to assess situations and develop appropriate plans aimed at promoting comfort.
* Ensures patient care meets safety, effectiveness, and patient rights standards.
* Oversees care provided by the patient care team and coordinates the plan of care.
* Provides education to patients, families, and team members, respecting diversity.
* Collaborates with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement effective care plans.
* Advocates for patients, addresses concerns, and resolves ethical and clinical issues.
* Documents all patient encounters thoroughly in EPIC.
* Protects patient health information at all times.
* Adheres to infection prevention protocols.
* Delivers skilled, competent care tailored to patient needs.
* Demonstrates team-oriented care, customer focus, clinical judgment, and evidence-based decision-making.
Work Experience:
2+ years PICU experience required
Education:
BSN required
Licenses and Certifications:
* Current Texas RN license
* BLS for Healthcare Providers
* PALS/NRP/ACLS
* PACES certification within 6 months of hire (new employees) or upon expiration (existing employees)
* Annual PPMAB training in some areas
