Job summary

Cadre Family Companies in Dallas, TX is seeking a Hospice Chaplain / Volunteer Coordinator to deliver compassionate spiritual care to patients and families while recruiting, training, and supporting hospice volunteers.

You will conduct spiritual assessments, coordinate rituals, provide bereavement support, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure holistic patient and family care; travel within the service area may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree required in biblical studies, theology, counseling, psychology, social work, or related field.
• Minimum of one year of experience providing spiritual care, chaplaincy, pastoral care, or counseling in healthcare or hospice.
• Clean driving record and valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide spiritual support and guidance to patients and families facing end-of-life issues.
• Conduct spiritual assessments and provide appropriate spiritual care and support.
• Offer bereavement support to patients and families.
• Recruit, train, and manage volunteers who provide support to hospice patients and families.

About the Role

As a Hospice Chaplain / Volunteer Coordinator in this dual role , you’ll provide compassionate spiritual support to patients and families while also recruiting, training, and supporting hospice volunteers.

You’ll provide spiritual assessment and support, rituals and ceremonies, bereavement support, and interdisciplinary collaboration while coordinating volunteer recruitment, training, placement, and supervision. You’ll also support patient and family services, community outreach, education, and engagement.

What You'll Do

Provide Spiritual Care & Support

• Provide spiritual support and guidance to patients and families facing end-of-life issues.
• Conduct spiritual assessments and provide appropriate spiritual care and support.
• Offer support surrounding grief, loss, and existential distress.
• Provide rituals and ceremonies as appropriate to support patients and families.
• Provide bereavement support to patients and families.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support the spiritual and emotional needs of patients and families.
• Recruit, train, and manage volunteers who provide support to hospice patients and their families.
• Place volunteers appropriately based on patient and family needs.
• Provide supervision and support to hospice volunteers.
• Help ensure volunteers are prepared to provide meaningful support to patients and families.
• Support patient and family services through volunteer involvement.

Build Community Connections

• Participate in community outreach and education related to hospice and spiritual care.
• Support community engagement and outreach efforts.
• Develop awareness and understanding of hospice services within the community.
• Help connect community members and volunteers with opportunities to support hospice patients and families.

Support Quality Care & Coordination

• Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to support comprehensive patient and family care.
• Maintain appropriate documentation and reporting related to spiritual care and volunteer activities.
• Support coordination of spiritual care and volunteer services.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Support the Patient Care Area

• Be open to travel as necessary within the patient care area and specified service area.
• Provide services and support where needed throughout the designated area.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in biblical studies, theology, counseling, psychology, social work, or related degree.
• Minimum of one year of experience providing spiritual care, chaplaincy, pastoral care, or counseling in a healthcare or hospice setting.
• Clean driving record, valid driver's license, and auto insurance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Board-certified chaplain and/or one or more CPE units preferred.
• Volunteer management, community outreach, or related experience preferred.
