Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health in Texas seeks a PRN Chaplain 1 to provide compassionate spiritual care as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting patients, families and staff with counseling and religious services.

In this role you will collaborate with physicians, nurses and social workers, conduct pastoral assessments, organize services, and maintain records. A Bachelor’s degree is required and CPE training is preferred or to be completed within 18 months.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree.
• Experience: Less than 1 year of experience.
• CPE: One unit of CPE preferred or obtain CPE within 18 months required.

Responsibilities

• Organizes, promotes, and conducts religious services for patients, their families and staff including weekly worship, memorial services, baptisms, weddings, anointing and coordinating bereavement needs.
• Provides counseling and other spiritual education activities for employees, students, and patients.
• Supports the end‑of‑life care for patients by offering pastoral support and counseling to patients and families.
• Partners with physicians, nurses, social workers, counselors, and ancillary staff as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team in assessing patient needs and to improve patient care.
• Conducts a pastoral assessment of a patient's spiritual and emotional status and the need for spiritual care.
• Develops relationships with local churches, community agencies and service organizations which support the Baylor Scott & White Health community.
• Documents and maintains records of spiritual counseling for patients.
