Texas State University seeks a PRN Certified Medical Assistant to join the University Health Services in San Marcos. The role supports front and back office tasks, patient intake, EKGs, injections, vaccines, and medication administration within a primary care setting.

Clinic hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a flexible, long-term PRN/part-time schedule. Candidates must be certified and have MA program completion to qualify.

Qualifications

  • Completion of accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Certified Medical Assistant.
  • Computer experience including use of Microsoft Office.
  • Experience documenting in electronic health records.
  • Experience working in a Primary Care clinic (Family Medicine or Internal Medicine) or an Urgent Care clinic.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and document patient history, vital signs, allergies, and chief complaints.
  • Schedule appointments and maintain accurate electronic medical records.
  • Perform clinical procedures including EKGs, wound care, immunizations, and medication administration.
  • Assist providers during examinations and procedures; coordinate referrals and follow-up care.
  • Prepare and stock exam rooms, label specimens, and maintain clinical supplies.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with safety and infection-control standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
