The caregiver provides in-home care to individuals who have difficulty performing basic day-to-day activities by assisting with personal care, administering medication, and providing companionship.
Job Description
The caregiver plans and follows a daily care schedule with clients, modifies care plans as prescribed by medical professionals, and reports on any new conditions or needs that may arise. Assists with personal care, which may include bathroom functions, bathing, grooming, dressing, and eating. Follows a prescribed healthcare plan, which may include assisting with exercise and administering medication. Ensures the clients' home is organized according to their needs and that safety measures are in place. May be expected to complete some light housework. Provides emotional support and encouragement to perform necessary tasks. Provides mobility assistance if required, for example helping the client in and out of a bed, a chair, or a wheelchair. Transports or escorts the client to medical and other appointments. Monitors and reports changes in health, behavior, and needs. Must be patient, empathetic, observant and committed to making the client feel comfortable.
Qualifications
High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required. Must be 18 years of age or older. When applicable, valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle required.
