Job summary

VHC Health in Arlington, VA is seeking a PRN Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) to join the Cardiac, Vascular and Thoracic Surgery team. You will provide care to CVT surgery patients in CVICU and Stepdown, applying strong clinical judgment and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Applicants should have a Master’s in Nursing, VA RN license (or compact), NP/PA national certification, BLS/ACLS, and CVICU experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Nursing (to be completed within 24 months if not yet done).
• Minimum one year in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery or advanced practice nursing.
• CVICU experience strongly preferred.
• Virginia RN license or Compact State Licensure required.
• Nurse Practitioner license (for NPs) preferred.
• National certification as NP or PA required (or eligibility upon hire).
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive care to CVT surgery patients in CVICU and Stepdown units.
• Assess patients, develop and implement treatment plans, and manage post-operative recovery.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and perform bedside procedures within scope.
• Participate in patient education and discharge planning.
• Ensure adherence to clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Document all care accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
