Job summary

University Health KC invites applications for a PRN Registered Echo Sonographer in the Cardiology Diagnostics UHTMC department at UH Lakewood Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. This part-time role supports our cardiology team with high-quality diagnostic ultrasound imaging across various procedures.

The position requires ARDMS (RDCS) or CCI (RCS) credentials, active BLS, ability to perform echocardiograms including TEE, and excellent patient communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Active BLS certification and ongoing maintenance.
• ARDMS RDCS or CCI RCS credential maintained.
• Ability to independently perform echocardiograms and TEE.
• Strong knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work with patients of all ages and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Current CPR certification maintained.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality cardiac ultrasound examinations, including spectral, color, and tissue Doppler studies.
• Perform stress echocardiograms and pharmacologic stress echocardiograms.
• Independently perform transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE).
• Operate mobile cardiac ultrasound equipment throughout the hospital.
• Safely position patients for examinations and procedures.
• Explain procedures clearly to patients and provide reassurance throughout their exam.
• Communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, physicians, and other staff members.
• Accurately document procedures and examination information.
• Work with patients across all stages of human development and provide age-appropriate care.
• Collaborate with staff cardiologists, who review and report all completed examinations.
