Job summary

Northwest Health in Valparaiso, IN is seeking an Athletic Trainer to provide comprehensive services to athletes across multiple sports. The PRN role collaborates with team physicians and coaches to prevent injuries, guide treatment, and oversee rehabilitation, including community outreach for Sports Medicine services.

You will perform pre-season exams, develop conditioning, deliver on-site care during events, document progress, and promote safety standards.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in athletic training or a related field.
• Athletic Training State Licensure is required or equivalent.
• AT - Certified Athletic Trainer is required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and assists physicians in pre-season physical examinations while ensuring health and safety standards.
• Develops conditioning programs to prevent injuries and enhance performance.
• Provides on-site evaluation and treatment for injuries during events and practices, administering first aid as needed.
• Applies protective devices and facilitates referrals for advanced care.
• Collaborates with coaches and healthcare professionals to design rehabilitation plans for safe return to play.
• Conducts education sessions for coaches, athletes and parents on injury prevention and management.
• Maintains detailed records of evaluations, treatments and progress for continuity of care.
• Promotes Sports Medicine services through community outreach programs.
• Keeps up-to-date with evidence-based practices and maintains certifications.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains regular attendance.
