Job summary

Summit Medical Group Float Pool is seeking a PRN Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Knoxville area offices. This floater role supports multiple offices as needed, delivering high-quality care with flexibility across Knox County.

Required: accredited NP/PA program, Tennessee licensure (RN/APN or PA), and clinic-based experience. 2–3 days per week, PRN schedule, with wellness program benefits and discounted insurance options.

Qualifications

• Three years clinical patient care in a clinic setting; two years APN/PA preferred.
• Licensed as RN/APN or PA in Tennessee.

Responsibilities

• Performs complete physical exams and records findings.
• Maintains and reviews patient records and charts.
• Orders labs and diagnostic procedures as appropriate.
• Determines diagnoses and treatment plans.
• Educates patients and families on medications, health and prevention.
• Assists physicians in patient care and coordinates continuity of care.

Summit Medical Group Float Pool is seeking a PRN Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join their practice in the Knoxville area. Join our dedicated team committed to providing exceptional healthcare services across Knox County. We're seeking a flexible and skilled PRN Floater Advanced Practitioner to support our various offices as needed. As a PRN Floater Advanced Practitioner, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to our patients. This position requires adaptability and a proactive approach, allowing you to meet the varying healthcare needs of different teams throughout Knox County.

Hours

2-3 days a week. Various Offices.

Responsibilities

(List does not include all duties assigned)

• Performs complete physical exams, obtains complete medical histories, and records findings.
• Maintains and reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information.
• Orders (and, as appropriate, performs) appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
• Determines preliminary diagnoses and therapeutic plans by obtaining, interpreting and integrating data.
• Posts tests and examination results as appropriate.
• Instructs patient/family regarding medications and treatments, educates patients/family regarding health and illness prevention, and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
• Assists physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients.
• Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
• Triages nursing and family telephone calls and provides consultation.

Education

Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or Physician Assistant program.

Experience

Minimum of three years of previous patient care experience in a clinic setting, plus two years of APN or PA experience is preferred.

Certification/License

Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse in State of Tennessee, or current Physician Assistant licensed to practice in State of Tennessee.
