Job summary

Summit Medical Group Float Pool is seeking a PRN Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team in the Chattanooga area. This on-site, part-time Floater position supports multiple offices as needed, delivering high-quality care across the network.

Role requires adaptability, clinical expertise, and proactive patient care. Successful completion of an accredited NP/PA program and Tennessee licensure are required, with prior clinic experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or Physician Assistant program.
• Minimum of three years of patient care experience in a clinic setting, plus two years of APN or PA experience preferred.
• Currently licensed as an RN and APRN in Tennessee, or licensed as a Physician Assistant in Tennessee.

Responsibilities

• Performs complete physical exams and records findings.
• Maintains and reviews patient records and charts.
• Orders or performs laboratory and diagnostic procedures as appropriate.
• Determines preliminary diagnoses and therapeutic plans.
• Education of patient and family regarding medications and health/illness prevention.
• Assists physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs.
• Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
• Triages nursing and family telephone calls and provides consultation.

We're seeking a flexible and skilled PRN Floater Advanced Practitioner to support our various offices as needed. As a PRN Floater Advanced Practitioner, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to our patients. This position requires adaptability and a proactive approach, allowing you to meet the varying healthcare needs of different teams throughout the Chattanooga area.

Responsibilities:(List does not include all duties assigned)

• Performs complete physical exams, obtains complete medical histories, and records findings.
• Maintains and reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information.
• Orders (and, as appropriate, performs) appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
• Determines preliminary diagnoses and therapeutic plans by obtaining, interpreting and integrating data.
• Posts tests and examination results as appropriate.
• Instructs patient/family regarding medications and treatments, educates patients/family regarding health and illness prevention, and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
• Assists physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients.
• Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
• Triages nursing and family telephone calls and provides consultation.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or Physician Assistant program.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years of previous patient care experience in a clinic setting, plus two years of APN or PA experience is preferred.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse in State of Tennessee, or current Physician Assistant licensed to practice in State of Tennessee.
