Northern Lights Locating and Inspection Inc in Austin, TX is seeking Private Utility Locators to identify underground utilities for clients in accordance with 811 tickets. The role includes GPS mapping, hand hole inspections, documentation, and reporting.

You will use utility maps, GIS data, and various locating equipment, marking locations with flags or paint, and photographing results. On-call rotation is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years locator experience.
• Knowledge of 811 laws and ticket-based locating.
• Ability to read utility maps and as-built drawings.
• Experience with GPS mapping and documenting findings.
• Strong attention to detail and safety.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground utilities for clients and property owners based on 811 tickets per 811 dig laws.
• Perform hand hole inspections and documentation.
• GPS utility mapping.
• Uses utility maps, as-built civil engineering drawings, GIS information, and various pipe and electronic locating equipment.
• Utilizes flags and/or paint to mark the location of underground utilities.
• Prepares various reports, forms, and memos to document work completed, and problems encountered and/or resolved.
• Take pictures of utility line located for each 811 ticket.
• Investigates and prepares detailed written documentation on excavations that result in damage to underground utilities.
• Comfortable using a cell phone-based app to record locating marks for clients’ property; app holds photos and enables document completion.
• On-call rotation.
