Northern Lights Locating and Inspection Inc is seeking a Private Utility Locator for full-time work. You will locate underground utilities for clients and property owners per 811 tickets, using maps, GIS data, and field equipment. GPS mapping and hand hole inspections are routine, with thorough documentation and reporting.

You will mark locations with flags or paint, photograph sites, and prepare detailed written records. Travel is required, and a supportive team framework is available.

Qualifications

• 2 years locator experience required.
• Read and interpret utility maps and as-built civil engineering drawings.
• Ability to maintain equipment and vehicle.
• Willingness to travel (75% +).
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Must be able to pass a drug screen and have a valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground utilities for clients and property owners based on 811 tickets and 811 dig laws.
• Perform hand hole inspections and documentation.
• GPS utility mapping and flag/paint marking of locations.
• Prepare reports, forms, and memos documenting work and findings.
• Take photos of located utilities for each ticket.
• Investigate and document excavations with damaged utilities.
