Job summary

Mt. Hood Community College is seeking a swim instructor to conduct private and semi-private lessons for all ages, ensuring safety in and around water.

The role involves planning individualized instruction, maintaining records, and supporting DEI and evidence-based practices within the department. Responsibilities include teaching according to ARC guidelines, collaborating with coordinators and families, and participating in required trainings.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, and communicate at a level sufficient to perform the functions of the position.
• Six (6) months of experience teaching swim lessons.
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification.
• Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Conduct private and semi-private swim lessons following ARC guidelines.
• Collaborate with coordinator and participants or caregivers to create individualized lesson plans.
• Ensure safety of participants during class time and demonstrations of proper technique.
• Provide positive motivational and corrective feedback to participants.
• Attend required in-service trainings for lifeguards and instructors.
