Job summary

Principal Financial Group seeks an experienced Associate for its Private Infrastructure Debt team in the New York area. You will evaluate High Yield and Investment Grade transactions, perform underwriting, structuring, and portfolio monitoring across diverse sectors, building financial models and credit memos to support investment decisions.

Expect to collaborate with senior members, develop relationships with sponsors, and stay updated on market trends.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, engineering, or related field with GPA 3.5+.
3+ years in Infrastructure, Project Finance Loans, and Fixed Income.
Strong Excel-based financial modeling and underwriting memo writing.
Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial statement analysis, credit analysis.
Experience using available AI tools to improve workflow.

Responsibilities

Analyze and support infrastructure transaction activity including private placements and bank loans, and monitor existing investments.
Develop and maintain credit memos, financial models, assess key financial metrics, and conduct industry research.
Build and maintain relationships with sponsors, agents, and advisors.
Research economic, regulatory, and market trends impacting investments.
Support marketing, RFPs, and client inquiries.
Stay informed on financial markets, industry trends, and capital market conditions.
