Referment is working with a global investment firm whose private equity team acquires and grows small- and medium-sized businesses across the US. This role centers on origination: identifying and sourcing new investment opportunities by building direct relationships with business owners nationwide, with real ownership of sourcing strategy and the tools to execute it.

The Role

• Source and originate new investment opportunities by connecting directly with small- and mid-sized business owners across a range of industries.
• Own, develop, and execute creative sourcing and marketing strategies, using modern tools and high-quality data to identify and prioritize the most promising opportunities.
• Build and maintain a network of business owners, expert networks, and relevant intermediaries that keeps surfacing potential deals.
• Develop rapport and credibility with prospective sellers, fostering trust and open communication throughout the sourcing process.
• Drive proprietary outreach - email campaigns, LinkedIn networking, and cold calling - to source deals directly.
• Share market insights with the internal team and support the pipeline of potential acquisitions.

What We're Looking For

• A bachelor's degree or higher, plus three to eight years of relevant experience in deal origination, direct sourcing, client services, or business development within private equity or expert networks.
• A demonstrated ability to connect authentically with small- and mid-sized business owners, particularly across middle America.
• Experience in sourcing-focused environments - private equity platforms or expert networks - rather than sales or corporate development.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative and approachable manner.
