Private Equity Business Development Analyst

Interlock Equity

Los Angeles, CA

Full-Time

ABOUT INTERLOCK EQUITY

Interlock Equity is a fast-growing Los Angeles-based private equity firm that specializes in acquiring and growing differentiated B2B professional services companies. Our diverse team consists of experienced investors, operators, and professionals who have a strong track record of delivering strong returns for our investors.

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

The Business Development Analyst will serve as a critical member of the deal origination team, supporting senior professionals in identifying and pursuing new investment themes and acquisition targets. This role sits at the intersection of research, outreach, and strategy—requiring someone who brings a proactive, resourceful mindset and a genuine enthusiasm for leveraging AI and technology to drive the firm’s pipeline.

The ideal candidate is a low-ego team player who takes initiative, thinks critically, and communicates clearly. Strong intellectual curiosity, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a desire to continuously improve how the team operates are essential.

DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
Investment Theme Research & Market Intelligence
  • Support the senior team in developing and refining new investment themes by conducting in-depth industry research across B2B professional services verticals
  • Monitor the market for emerging industry trends, regulatory shifts, and macroeconomic signals that could inform new areas for investment
  • Research and compile comparable transactions and relevant precedent deals to help the team evaluate sector attractiveness and valuation benchmarks
  • Identify relevant investment bankers, intermediaries, and advisors active in target sectors and maintain an organized, up-to-date database of these relationships
  • Track and recommend relevant industry conferences, trade events, and networking opportunities that align with the firm’s current and emerging investment themes
  • Design and execute outbound business development campaigns to engage founders and owners at high-priority target companies, developing differentiated and creative outreach strategies
  • Identify new and unconventional channels for reaching founders and decision-makers, going beyond traditional intermediary-led processes to generate proprietary deal flow
  • Build and maintain proprietary target lists using CRM platforms and AI-powered sourcing tools, enriching company and contact data to improve targeting accuracy
  • Collaborate with senior team members on pipeline strategy, contributing to weekly deal flow meetings with research-backed insights and recommendations
  • Leverage AI tools and large language models (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) to accelerate research workflows, automate repetitive tasks, and surface insights from large data sets
  • Continuously evaluate and recommend new technologies, platforms, and automation tools that can improve the speed, quality, and efficiency of the firm’s business development efforts
  • Serve as a resource for the broader team on how to integrate AI into day-to-day workflows, helping to build a culture of technology-forward thinking across the firm
  • Assist in the preliminary due diligence process by conducting desktop research on target companies, synthesizing findings into clear, actionable summaries for the investment team
  • Prepare materials and briefing documents to support senior professionals in meetings with founders, intermediaries, and advisors
SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field preferred
  • 1–2 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate development, consulting, or a sales-related field
  • Demonstrated fluency with AI and technology tools — hands‑on experience using large language models (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude), AI‑powered research or data enrichment platforms, and workflow automation tools is highly valued. We want someone who naturally reaches for technology to solve problems faster
  • A proactive, self‑starter mentality with the ability to take initiative, anticipate the team’s needs, and operate with minimal direction
  • Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to synthesize large volumes of information into clear, strategic takeaways
  • A low‑ego, team‑first attitude—collaborative by nature and energized by helping others succeed
  • Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Passion and curiosity! A desire to learn, grow, and build a successful career and legacy in a fast‑paced, highly entrepreneurial environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM software, with comfort adopting new technology platforms quickly
WHAT YOU’LL GET
  • Competitive salary and benefits package including annual and performance bonuses, 401(k), and health insurance
  • Unlimited PTO
  • A performance‑driven culture that rewards hunger, passion, and effort
  • Individualized mentorship and training from a highly successful and collaborative group of entrepreneurs with decades of diverse experience. If you are passionate about developing your entrepreneurial spirit, Interlock will give you the tools to do so
  • Unique opportunities to learn about organizations across a number of different industries and verticals, providing compelling solutions to a wide range of problems faced by modern businesses
  • Upward mobility. We don’t just believe in hiring the right talent. We believe in allowing them to excel
