Job summary

Alexander Chapman, a San Francisco-based private equity firm, is seeking a Private Equity Associate to join its investment team. The role focuses on tech-enabled services within the lower middle market, with exposure to the full deal lifecycle from sourcing to portfolio management.

You will work closely with senior teams on financial modeling, due diligence, and deal execution, contributing to investment theses and committee materials while coordinating across stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in private equity, investment banking, or similarly rigorous transaction-oriented role.
• Prior experience with M&A and/or LBO transactions.
• Strong financial modeling and valuation capabilities.
• Experience covering technology, software, business services, IT services, or tech-enabled services preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate new investment opportunities within the tech-enabled services sector.
• Build detailed LBO, operating, and financial models.
• Conduct valuation and returns analysis, including sensitivity and scenario analyses.
• Perform industry, company, and competitive research.
• Lead and coordinate financial, commercial, operational, and legal due diligence.
• Prepare investment committee presentations, underwriting materials, and transaction documentation.
• Support deal execution from initial diligence through closing.
• Participate in management meetings and calls with company executives, advisors, lenders, and other stakeholders.
• Monitor portfolio company performance and assist with value-creation initiatives.
• Support the team with market mapping, thematic research, and sourcing initiatives.
