Job description

A highly regarded, institutional-backed alternative investment platform is seeking an Investment Associate to join its New York investment team.

The firm manages a multi-billion-dollar credit platform focused on providing differentiated, bespoke financing solutions across the capital structure. With a flexible investment mandate and a highly experienced senior team, the platform invests across private credit, leveraged finance, structured and opportunistic credit, and working capital solutions, with exposure to both traditional and more complex credit situations.

This is an opportunity to join a highly entrepreneurial investment environment where Associates are given meaningful responsibility and direct exposure to senior investment professionals. The successful candidate will be involved throughout the investment lifecycle, from sourcing and underwriting through structuring, execution and portfolio management.

The Role

The Investment Associate will work closely with senior members of the investment team across a broad range of credit opportunities, with responsibilities including:

  • Conduct fundamental research on companies, industries, business models and capital structures
  • Evaluate new investment opportunities and assess underlying credit quality, downside protection and risk-adjusted return potential
  • Build and maintain detailed financial models, valuation analyses and scenario analyses
  • Perform credit underwriting and diligence across a range of financing structures and situations
  • Analyze companies across the capital structure and assess relative value across investment opportunities
  • Assist with structuring, negotiating and executing new investments
  • Prepare detailed investment memoranda and materials for senior investment professionals and the Investment Committee
  • Participate in management, sponsor, lender and other counterparty discussions
  • Monitor existing investments and support ongoing portfolio management
  • Contribute to broader research, market analysis and strategic initiatives across the platform
The Opportunity

This is a particularly attractive opportunity for an investor who wants to develop as a well-rounded private credit professional rather than operate within a narrowly defined product vertical.

The platform offers exposure to a wide range of credit opportunities, including performing, opportunistic, structured, stressed and special situations, allowing the Associate to develop a sophisticated understanding of credit risk, capital structures and bespoke financing solutions.

The role also provides significant interaction with senior investment professionals and meaningful involvement in live transactions, making it well suited to an individual who is intellectually curious, highly analytical and motivated by a high level of ownership.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 2–4 years of relevant investment experience, ideally within private credit, leveraged finance, special situations, distressed credit or another fundamentally oriented investing environment
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities
  • A rigorous understanding of financial statements, credit analysis and capital structures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and intellectual curiosity
  • The ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced investment environment
  • A genuine interest in credit investing and complex financing situations

Candidates from leading investment banks, private credit platforms, credit hedge funds, distressed/special situations funds or other highly regarded investment environments are encouraged to apply.
