Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, underwrite, and execute debt investments across the firm's credit strategies.
  • Perform detailed financial analysis, cash flow modeling, credit underwriting, and due diligence.
  • Support portfolio management activities, including monitoring portfolio company performance and risk-adjusted returns.
  • Structure and analyze complex credit investments, including senior secured loans and unitranche financings.
  • Partner with investment professionals, capital markets teams, and external counterparties to execute financing transactions.
  • Support structuring and execution of CLOs, securitizations, and warehouse facilities across the platform.
  • Model transaction capital structures, financing waterfalls, collateral performance, and cash flow projections.
  • Prepare investment committee materials, underwriting memoranda, and portfolio reviews.

Private Credit Associate

A leading North Carolina-based private credit investment firm is seeking a Private Credit Associate to join its investment team. This individual will play a key role in evaluating, structuring, and executing investments across the firm's direct lending, broadly syndicated loan, and opportunistic credit strategies.

The ideal candidate will have a strong private credit or leveraged finance background, complemented by extensive experience within structured products, including CLOs, securitizations, warehouse facilities, and other asset-backed financing structures. This role offers significant exposure to investment underwriting, portfolio management, capital markets execution, and strategic financing initiatives across the platform.

The Private Credit Associate will be responsible for:
  • Evaluating, underwriting, and executing debt investment opportunities across the firm's credit strategies
  • Performing detailed financial analysis, cash flow modeling, credit underwriting, and investment due diligence
  • Supporting portfolio management activities, including monitoring portfolio company performance and assessing risk-adjusted returns
  • Structuring and analyzing complex credit investments, including senior secured loans, unitranche financings, opportunistic credit investments, and special situations
  • Partnering with investment professionals, capital markets teams, and external counterparties to execute financing transactions
  • Supporting the structuring and execution of CLOs, securitizations, warehouse facilities, and other structured financing solutions utilized across the platform
  • Modeling transaction capital structures, financing waterfalls, collateral performance, and cash flow projections
  • Preparing investment committee materials, underwriting memoranda, portfolio reviews, and investor presentations
  • Conducting market research and industry analysis to identify attractive investment opportunities and financing alternatives
  • Collaborating with legal, treasury, operations, and compliance teams throughout transaction execution and portfolio lifecycle management
  • Assisting with portfolio financing initiatives and evaluating innovative capital markets solutions to enhance investment returns and platform scalability
The Private Credit Associate should have the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or CFA designation is a plus
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience within private credit, leveraged finance, structured credit, investment banking, asset management, or alternative credit investing
  • Strong understanding of private credit investing, leveraged loans, and credit underwriting principles
  • Extensive experience with structured products, including CLOs, securitizations, warehouse facilities, asset-backed financing structures, and related capital markets transactions
  • Experience evaluating and modeling complex financing structures, collateral pools, and cash flow waterfalls
  • Advanced financial modeling and analytical skillset
  • Strong understanding of credit documentation, financing agreements, and transaction structuring
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with experience interacting with internal stakeholders, lenders, investors, and transaction counterparties
  • Highly analytical, proactive, and team-oriented professional with a strong interest in private credit and structured finance markets
