Private Capital Advisory, Director or Managing Director

We are seeking an experienced Secondaries Banker to join our Private Capital Advisory team as a director or managing director reporting to the Head of the Private Capital Advisory group. The successful candidate will be responsible for helping drive business growth, cultivating client relationships, and providing strategic guidance to our clients. The two business lines within CastleOak Private Capital Advisory (PCA) are Secondaries Advisory and Fundraising for Private Funds. CastleOak aims to become a leading secondaries advisor by focusing on providing strategic advisory services to sponsors across a variety of portfolio and fund management objectives, advising limited and general partners on liquidity solutions for their portfolios, and being an intermediary for innovative capital and liquidity solutions for private markets issuers and investors. The ideal candidate will have 4 plus years of experience as a Secondaries Banker, have executed numerous GP-Led and or LP-Led transactions, and possess a healthy rolodex of GP relationships.

Candidates for the position must possess prior experience in secondaries advisory. Experience in other investment banking disciplines prior to secondaries advisory is a plus. The job requires the ability to manage multiple projects under time constraints, interact effectively with clients, and drive strategic outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive liquidity solution services on GP-Led and LP-Led transactions for sponsor and LP clients.
  • Advise and execute liquidity solutions for GPs and LPs in private capital funds.
  • Understand and manage the valuation process on private company portfolios.
  • Collaborate with CastleOak’s M&A team.
  • Manage GP and Counsel engagement.
  • With counsel, manage fund documentation due diligence process.
  • Provide expert product and market content as a trusted advisor to clients.
  • Possess and further cultivating a deep understanding of fund strategies.
  • Embrace a culture of collaboration and teamwork.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, keep meticulous records and work very closely with project management team and senior partners.
  • Ability to effectively market the Private Capital business externally to clients, at conferences, and within spheres of influence.
  • Understanding of the differentiated investment processes across our client base, having excellent follow up skills and a proven ability to close commitments.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years of secondaries banking experience
  • Proven track record of success
  • Reasonably deep understanding of the private capital markets including private equity, private credit, venture capital and alternative asset investments.
  • Mastery of GP-Led liquidity solutions
  • Demonstrable track record of building long-term client relationships.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of adaptability and resilience.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Confident and self-aware with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Personal and professional integrity of the highest order
  • Series 63, SIE, and 7 or 79 licenses, or willingness to obtain within 3 months

Location: New York

Salary Range: Director $180,000-225,000; Managing Director $200,000 -$300,00

% Travel: 30-50%
