Job summary

Yahoo's Privacy Legal team seeks an experienced Privacy Technologist to design, implement, and validate privacy‑respectful systems across our advertising and media businesses. You will work at the intersection of privacy, engineering, product, AI, identity, analytics, and advertising technology.

You will translate legal, policy, and product requirements into implementable technical controls, test plans, and reusable implementation patterns, partnering with privacy counsel and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in privacy engineering or related technical roles.
• Ability to review architectures and map data flows for privacy risks.
• Hands-on with SQL and scripting (Python/JavaScript) preferred.
• Translate requirements into technical controls with counsel collaboration.
• Experience with advertising tech, consent frameworks, and data governance.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical privacy reviews across the product lifecycle.
• Map data flows and processing dependencies across platforms and services.
• Translate legal and product requirements into technical controls.
• Design controls for minimization, consent, retention, and de-identification.
• Test privacy controls using logs, queries, and configuration reviews.
• Assess advertising/identity technologies and evolving addressability solutions.
• Evaluate consent signals (GPC, GPP, IAB TCF) for consistency.
• Assess AI/ML systems across the data lifecycle and governance.
• Develop scalable privacy engineering playbooks and automation workflows.
• Identify and institutionalize AI/automation tools to replace manual reviews.
