Shiseido Americas seeks a mid-level Corporate Counsel to join a small, agile legal team focusing on privacy, data protection, and digital matters, while supporting broader commercial contracting needs.

The ideal candidate brings 5–7 years’ experience, a J.D., NY bar admission, and a practical, business-minded approach to privacy and vendor negotiations in a fast-paced, brand-driven environment.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of experience, ideally a mix of in-house and law firm.
• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Bar admission in NY or another state in good standing.
• Strong knowledge of privacy/data protection laws and regulations.
• Experience counseling cross-functional teams on privacy and digital matters.
• Experience with commercial contracts and vendor negotiations.

Responsibilities

• Advise on U.S. privacy/data protection laws and global privacy standards.
• Lead development and maintenance of privacy compliance programs.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with IT, e-commerce, Brand Marketing, Legal, and global teams.
• Review and draft privacy-related policies and procedures.
• Negotiate data protection clauses and data processing agreements.
• Stay abreast of evolving privacy laws and provide training on compliance.
• Support defense in privacy-related claims and cyber security initiatives.
• Draft and advise on digital and technology agreements.
