Job summary

Publix Super Markets, a leading U.S. retailer, seeks a Privacy, Cybersecurity, and Emerging Technologies Attorney to guide enterprise privacy and cybersecurity efforts, advise on AI governance, data protection, and technology risk, and ensure regulatory compliance across the organization.

The attorney will partner with cross-functional teams, manage incident response guidance, and shape Publix’s approach to responsible technology use and governance.

Qualifications

• JD required and active bar admission.
• Minimum 2 years advising on privacy and cybersecurity matters.
• Minimum 1 year advising on emerging technologies (AI).
• Ability to travel up to 10%.
• Strong understanding of privacy and cybersecurity laws and enforcement trends.
• Ability to translate regulatory requirements into actionable guidance.
• Skilled in issue-spotting, risk-mitigation, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Effective communicator with the ability to influence decisions at all levels.
• Comfortable handling time-critical cyber incidents.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal subject-matter expertise on privacy, cybersecurity, and emerging technology regulations.
• Conduct legal risk assessments for emerging technologies, including AI.
• Provide counsel during cybersecurity incidents, including breach analysis and regulatory communications.
• Advise on privacy and cybersecurity strategy with technology, IP, and contracts teams.
• Serve as a legal advisor to governance groups on responsible AI use and risk safeguards.
• Monitor legislation and policy developments related to privacy, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.
