Job summary

Husch Blackwell LLP seeks an Associate for its Data Privacy, Cybersecurity, and AI practice with three to six years of experience. The role offers opportunities across privacy compliance, AI governance, incident response, and complex transactions for clients in technology, life sciences, healthcare, and financial services.

The candidate will work with leading companies on state and federal privacy laws, cybersecurity, and AI issues, with admission to the relevant state bar and strong

Qualifications

• Three to six years of experience advising clients on data privacy, cybersecurity, or AI matters at a law firm, in-house, or in government.
• Working knowledge of GDPR, CCPA and other U.S. state privacy laws, and emerging AI laws and regulations.
• Experience with incident response, AI governance, or the privacy aspects of transactions is preferred.
• One or more certifications (CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, or AIGP) strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with generative AI legal research and drafting platforms (e.g., CoCounsel, Harvey, Legora) in a legal practice setting.

Responsibilities

• Privacy compliance counseling: advise on GDPR, CCPA, and other U.S. privacy laws.
• Compliance program development: draft and operationalize privacy notices, policies, DPAs, transfer impact assessments, DPIAs, and risk assessments.
• Consumer rights requests: design intake, verification, and response workflows.
• AI governance: advise on AI governance programs and related contracts.
• Cybersecurity and incident response: support incident response and multi-jurisdictional notification obligations.
• Ad tech and digital marketing: advise on ad tech compliance and digital marketing strategies.
• Transactions: support privacy, cybersecurity, and AI aspects of M&A, financings, and tech transactions.
• Regulatory matters: assist with state and federal regulator inquiries and investigations.
