Job summary

Natera is seeking a Data Privacy Director to lead enterprise privacy across commercial, clinical and product environments, embedding privacy principles throughout data, tech and innovation initiatives.

You will partner with Product, Engineering, Medical Affairs and Clinical Operations to scale privacy-by-design, drive governance for data use, and mentor privacy professionals while enabling responsible growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., law, information systems, business) with IAPP certification preferred
• 8–10 years in privacy, data governance, or related leadership roles
• Strong expertise in global privacy regulations (HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA/CPRA)
• Experience embedding privacy into product and software lifecycles (privacy-by-design)
• Experience with clinical research privacy, Medical Affairs, or Clinical Operations teams
• Familiarity with IRB processes and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) in data privacy contexts
• Experience across commercial, clinical, and product/tech environments
• Knowledge of AI/ML governance and advanced analytics
• Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into scalable processes
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead privacy professionals
• Experience with program management and collaboration tools (e.g., JIRA, Google Workspace)

Responsibilities

• Lead privacy impact assessments, regulatory analyses, and risk-based recommendations balancing compliance with enablement
• Conduct privacy reviews of contracts and legal engagements with counsel alignment and approval
• Apply a risk-based lens to enable business decisions
• Build efficient, repeatable processes and tooling that scale program capacity
• Provide direction and mentorship to team members and external resources
• Integrate Privacy with Product/Engineering embedding privacy-by-design into lifecycle processes
• Collaborate with technical teams to translate privacy requirements into practical controls
• Support privacy engineering practices to operationalize compliance without slowing delivery
• Implement standardized, risk-based data access, sharing, and secondary use frameworks
• Drive consistency in how data use decisions are evaluated, approved, and documented across the organization
