Job summary

District of Columbia Government seeks a Cellblock Processing Technician to manage arrestee handling and safety within MPD facilities. Responsibilities include conducting cell and security checks, documenting captures, and ensuring compliance with CJIS/WALES protocols.

The role supports transport, booking, and court-related processes with strong emphasis on integrity and safety. The position requires high school diploma, knowledge of arrestee processing, and ability to operate fingerprint

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of arrestee processing procedures (custody, juveniles, property, searches).
  • Ability to communicate information verbally and in writing and provide court testimony.
  • Ability to operate photography equipment and computerized fingerprint system.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct shift cell checks at start and during shifts; log and report conditions.
  • Perform regular and special cell checks to ensure prisoner status and safety.
  • Provide prisoners food and water per schedule; maintain order in cellblock.
  • Inspect transport vehicles; complete inspection reports and verify equipment.
  • Process arrest packages ensuring accuracy with WALES/NCIC and CJIS entries.
  • Record prisoner details, descriptions, and court information; attach wristbands and property logs.
  • Assist in booking, escort to transport, and release procedures; document findings as required.
  • Attend training for certifications and safety procedures.
