Job summary

UTMB Health is seeking a Certified Medication Aide to support correctional healthcare programs, assisting with patient care, medication distribution, and maintaining a safe therapeutic environment within a prison setting.

You will collect vital signs, aid with activities of daily living, ensure drug room security, document medications, and participate in ongoing education to meet ACA standards; requires a High School diploma or GED and a Texas CMA permit.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Current Texas CMA permit required.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist with patient care and medication distribution.

Responsibilities

  • Collects, reports and documents vital signs, height/weight, intake/output and related data.
  • Assists with patient activities and care per the plan of care.
  • Provides for personal hygiene and assists with feeding and mobility as needed.
  • Maintains safe, comfortable environment; manages medications and supplies.
  • Distributes and documents medications in general population and administrative segregation per policy.
  • Ensures drug room security and upkeep of pharmaceutical equipment.
  • Enters medication compliance data into the pharmacy system.
  • Participates in in-service orientation and continuing education to meet ACA standards.
  • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structures.
