Job summary

Pinckney Community Schools invites applications for a Priority Substitute at Country Elementary in Pinckney, MI. The substitute will support students in classrooms, hallways and the lunchroom, following lesson plans and maintaining a safe, orderly environment.

This part-time position is contracted through Edustaff, offers $125.00 per day, and requires the ability to manage student flow and assist with general supervision. Immediate starting date and standard school-day hours apply.

Responsibilities

  • Following Lesson Plans & Instruction: adhere to lesson plans left by absent teacher and assist students with their work
  • Managing Classroom & Lunchroom Behavior: enforce school rules in classroom and lunch period and de-escalate minor conflicts
  • Supervising & Ensuring Safety: actively supervise students in classroom, transitions, and cafeteria
  • Maintaining a Clean & Organized Environment: keep classroom tidy and assist with lunchroom cleanup
  • Managing Student Flow: direct students to lunch lines, tables, and exits to prevent overcrowding

Salary: $125.00 per day

Position Overview:

Pinckney Community Schools is seeking a passionate and dedicated Priority Substitute. The ideal candidate will be committed to engaging students in a variety of environments including classrooms, hallways, and lunchroom.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Following Lesson Plans & Instruction: This includes adhering to the lesson plans and materials left by the absent teacher, ensuring continuity in instruction, and assisting students with their work.
  • Managing Classroom & Lunchroom Behavior: The individual is responsible for enforcing school rules and expectations both in the classroom and during the lunch period to maintain a safe and productive environment. This includes de‑escalating minor conflicts between students.
  • Supervising & Ensuring Safety: The role requires active supervision of students in the classroom, during transitions, and in the cafeteria to ensure their safety.
  • Maintaining a Clean & Organized Environment: This responsibility involves ensuring the classroom is left tidy for the teacher's return. In the lunchroom, it includes making sure students are cleaning up after themselves and assisting with general clean‑up as needed.
  • Managing Student Flow: The individual must manage student movement effectively, both within the classroom and during the busy lunch period, directing students to and from the lunch line, their tables, and the exit to prevent overcrowding.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision and the ability to adjust focus. The ability to travel to other buildings is required. The position requires the individual to sometimes work irregular or extended work hours and meet multiple demands from several people.
