Job Description

New England Cancer Specialists has an opportunity for a full-time Remote Prior Authorization Specialist. This position will join a team dedicated to providing excellent care and customer service. The Specialist will handle non-clinical administrative tasks such as obtaining authorizations from insurance, scheduling surgeries, scans, labs, and procedures, and ensuring positive patient experiences.

  • Job Duties:
  • Obtain pre-authorization from insurance carriers for procedures, scans, and labs via phone or website
  • Schedule outpatient appointments
  • Forward medical records to insurance
  • Scan documents into patient charts
  • Manage and resolve appointment conflicts
  • Prioritize and complete tasks on time, update team members
  • Communicate with clinical staff regarding approvals and denials
  • Maintain confidentiality and document communications
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service and teamwork skills

Travel: Rare

Required Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • At least two years of healthcare experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and customer service skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with electronic medical records
  • Knowledge of medical insurance preferred
  • Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding is a plus
