Job summary

CareSouth Carolina is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist medical sites with prior authorizations and coordinate with pharmacy staff to track approvals and denials in Hartsville, SC. A valid SC Pharmacy Technician license and BLS/CPR certification are required.

Two to four years of related experience and proficiency with QS/1 NRX, ECW and McKesson systems are preferred to document requests accurately and support timely patient access.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Active SC Pharmacy Technician license
• 2–4 years experience in field or related field
• BLS/CPR certification (through American Heart Association or American Red Cross)

Responsibilities

• Assist medical sites with completion of prior approvals
• Coordinate with the pharmacy to alert staff of approved or denied prior approvals
• Provide appeal/denial information to providers
• Work prior approvals through Cover My Meds
• Navigate electronic health record to pull required information to complete prior authorization paperwork
• Obtain pertinent medical information to document prior authorization requests
• Interact with medical staff to obtain clinical documentation for accurate indications in records
• Respond to complex questions from third party payers
• Proactively contact third party payers to ensure future payments
• Streamline prior authorizations for high-cost injectable medications
• Comply with 340B program guidelines and maintain knowledge of requirements
• Complete assignments and sign documents in Power DMS & Relias
• Maintain SC Pharmacy Technician license and continuing education
• Demonstrate efficiency in pharmacy computer systems QS/1 NRX, ECW, McKesson
