Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Prior Authorization Pharmacy Technician to support outpatient pharmacy operations by handling the end-to-end prior-authorization process for medications, services, and procedures. You will ensure timely submission of accurate documentation to payers and monitor approvals/denials, collaborating with clinicians to optimize reimbursement and maintain patient access to therapy.

Requires current SCBOP registration and certification (PTCB or ExCPT).

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy (SCBOP) is required.
• Must obtain and maintain Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB) or ExCPT.

Additional Job Description

Education: High School Degree or Equivalent Work Experience: 0-6months

Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the State of South Carolina Board of Pharmacy (SCBOP) is required and must be maintained. Must obtain and maintain Pharmacy Technician Certification (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT)) certification:

• Team members as of 11/1/2023: within 1 year of 11/1/2023.
• New Team members as of 11/1/2023: within 6 months of hire.
• New team members who are enrolled or will enroll in a pharmacy technician training program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and/or recognized by PTCB, have 30 days post program completion to obtain certification.
