Kansas City Vascular & Gen Surgery, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking an Authorization Coordinator for a full-time day-shift role (Mon-Fri) with no nights, no weekends, and no holidays.

You will review and complete prior authorizations, obtain necessary medical information, coordinate with referral services, and track authorization status across payor portals to ensure timely patient care and accurate claims processing. Strong customer service and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year of related experience with medical insurance plans and/or Medicare benefits verification required.
• One-year medical clinic, urgent care, or hospital care setting experience preferred.
• Prior Authorization Experience Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review and complete prior authorizations to ensure timeliness of appointments, testing, procedures, and claims filing.
• Obtain clinical information necessary to complete the Prior Authorization including insurance requirements.
• Follow criteria for services requiring prior authorizations and submit requests in a timely manner.
• Track status of prior authorizations via payor portals.
• Review denied claims for clinical accuracy and resubmit accordingly.
• Communicate with insurance companies to pre-certify/authorize/amend services.
• Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to improve department efficiency.
• Coordinate resolution between appropriate parties.
• Ensure documentation is entered in the billing system.
• Research Patient Visit History to ensure payor-specific payment window rules; guide patient through steps.
