Job summary

ArtCenter College of Design is seeking a part-time Studio Assistant for the Printmaking Studio in Pasadena. The role involves maintaining studio equipment, assisting instructors during classes and open labs, and guiding students in materials, safety, and processes.

This on-site position supports open lab access and coursework. Reporting to the Director of Operations, Interdisciplinary Studies, you will help with studio upkeep, safety procedures, and cross-training in letterpress processes, with

Qualifications

Basic knowledge of analog printing techniques and prior experience in a printmaking studio.
Completion of at least two college-level courses in printmaking.
Knowledge of best practices for safely operating presses and printing machinery and handling supplies, including cleaning chemicals.
Experience in identifying and reporting unsafe conditions.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Basic computer skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for customer service, including working with students daily.
Must be a team player.
Self-starter with multi-tasking ability, highly organized, able to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multicultural environment with students, faculty, and staff.
Available to work weeknights and some weekends.

Responsibilities

Maintain the Printmaking Studio equipment and spaces according to the instructor’s guidance.
Support class instruction during class and open lab time; assist with demos and preparations.
Assist students with materials, procedures, and safety; ensure open lab safety.
Help with routine cleaning, organization, and safety in the Printmaking Studio and Archetype Press.
