The Press Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a press while adhering to customer specifications, quality requirements, company standards, guidelines, and safety standards. This position oversees the completion of assigned jobs on the 2nd shift, from 4:20 pm to 2:40 am, Monday through Thursday, with mandatory overtime on Fridays.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect printed materials to ensure correctness in registration, stock, and all customer specifications.
- Adjust and maintain registration, perforations, and other customer-specific printing specifications.
- Monitor press operations to detect and correct machine or equipment malfunctions.
- Adjust press machine parts and equipment, including feeders, grippers, guides, feed wheels, cameras, and other components.
- Conduct visual inspections of materials, ink, and equipment prior to printing for defects or non-compliance.
- Perform final inspections to verify that all specifications are met before starting the job.
- Review and interpret job specifications and work order instructions, delegating or executing tasks as needed.
- Enter all job-related data into the ERP system (DISO).
- Return unused materials to designated areas after each job.
- Ensure proper line clearance, maintain production logs, and perform general maintenance or minor repairs on the press.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Knowledge of cGMP, ISO, and Lean Manufacturing is a plus.
- Experience with inks, materials, and handling die-cutting tools.
- Machine setup experience.
- Experience with UV and water-based inks.
- Experience working with vision systems.
- Understanding of quality procedures in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- High School Diploma or GED.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Stand for long periods.
- Perform repetitive bending, reaching, walking, stooping, crouching, lifting, and climbing.
