Silgan Closures, a Fortune 500 leader in sustainable packaging solutions, is seeking a Printing and Coating Engineer to support Hazleton, PA manufacturing operations. You will lead process improvements, optimize equipment, and collaborate with OEMs to roll out new products while training teams on safety and operation.

The role requires a degree in engineering and experience in metal packaging or coating operations, with travel up to 50%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing or industrial engineering or related field.
• Significant experience in can manufacturing, coil coating, printing, metal packaging, or coating operations.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to travel up to 50% to assist plants in multiple locations including Hazleton, Richmond, IN and Evansville, IN.

Responsibilities

• Lead plant projects to optimize processes and equipment.
• Improve quality, safety, and production efficiency.
• Support coil coating, printing, curing ovens, oxidizers, and heat recovery systems.
• Troubleshoot complex manufacturing equipment and identify root causes.
• Lead equipment installations, audits, overhauls, and qualification activities.
• Collaborate with plant teams and OEM suppliers on new products and manufacturing solutions.
• Train operators, supervisors, and maintenance personnel on setup, operation, and safety requirements.
• Ensure safety compliance including LOTO, machine guarding, confined space, and safe work practices.

This role is ideal for a Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer, Coating Engineer, Packaging Engineer, or Industrial Engineer with experience in metal packaging, coil coating, printing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

As a Printing and Coating Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and engineering support for metal coil cutting, sheet coating, printing, oven curing, and related manufacturing processes.

What you will do:

• Ensure compliance with safety standards, including LOTO, machine guarding, confined space, and safe work practices

What you'll need to have:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing or industrial engineering or related field
• Significant experience in can manufacturing, coil coating, printing, metal packaging, or coating operations may be considered in lieu of a degree
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to travel up to 50% to assist plants in Richmond, IN and Evansville, IN, in addition to the Hazleton plant
• Experience with manufacturing equipment, process optimization, and continuous improvement
• Ability to read engineering drawings and utilize precision measuring tools
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and Continuous Improvement methodologies
• AutoCAD proficiency preferred
• Working knowledge of coatings, solvents, oven systems, oxidizers, heat recovery systems, and LEL detectors
