Job summary

Silgan Closures is seeking a Printing and Coating Engineer in Downers Grove, IL to lead process improvements, support coil coating and lithography, and optimize curing ovens and heat recovery systems. You will troubleshoot equipment and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

The role requires knowledge of lean manufacturing, ability to read drawings, and collaboration with plant teams and OEMs. Travel up to 50% to multiple facilities is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing or industrial engineering or related field.
• Significant experience in can manufacturing, coil coating, lithography, metal packaging, or coating operations.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to travel up to 50% to assist plants in Evansville, IN, Richmond, IN, and Hazleton, PA.
• Experience with manufacturing equipment, process optimization, and continuous improvement.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and utilize precision measuring tools.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and Continuous Improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead process improvements that enhance quality, safety, and production efficiency.
• Support coil coating, lithography, curing ovens, oxidizers, and heat recovery systems.
• Troubleshoot complex manufacturing equipment and identify root causes of operational issues.
• Lead equipment installations, audits, overhauls, and qualification activities.
• Collaborate with plant teams and OEM suppliers to develop new products and manufacturing solutions.
• Train operators, supervisors, and maintenance personnel on equipment setup, operation, and safety requirements.
