Job summary

Platform Recruitment is seeking an experienced PCB Design Engineer for Irvine, CA, on-site. The candidate will lead the design and development of complex RF PCB/PCBA layouts using Altium Designer and drive the full lifecycle from schematics to fabrication.

You will work closely with electrical, mechanical, test, quality, and manufacturing teams, uphold DFM/DFT practices, and liaise with fabrication vendors to secure quotes and approvals.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional PCB design experience.
• Proficient in Altium Designer for layout, library, and release.
• Experience with IPC standards (IPC-2221, IPC-7351, IPC-A-600, IPC-6012).
• Strong ability to read schematics and RF PCB design experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop complex PCB layouts from schematics and requirements.

• Contribute to PCB design standards, DFM/DFT, signal integrity.

PCB Design Engineer - Location: Irvine, CA - Job Type: Full-time, On-site

About the Role

Our client, a growing RF and wireless technology company, is seeking an experienced PCB Design Engineer to join their engineering team in Irvine, CA.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Altium Designer expert with strong experience in RF PCB design to work on complex, high-performance board layouts and contribute across the full PCB development lifecycle.

The Role

You will design and develop complex PCB layouts from preliminary schematics and engineering requirements, working closely with electrical, mechanical, test, quality, and manufacturing teams.

You will also contribute to PCB design standards, DFM/DFT best practices, signal integrity, and vendor management, supporting projects from initial concept through fabrication and final release.

What You'll Be Doing

• Design and develop complex PCB and PCBA layouts using Altium Designer
• Work from schematics and mechanical/electrical engineering requirements
• Create and modify schematics as required by the engineering team
• Develop and maintain component libraries, including symbols, footprints, and 3D models
• Conduct PCB design feasibility studies covering packaging, cost, manufacturability, and performance
• Apply DFM and DFT principles throughout the design process
• Perform impedance-controlled routing and support electrical and RF signal integrity
• Liaise directly with PCB fabrication vendors regarding quotations, purchase orders, and engineering queries
• Coordinate with Engineering, Test, Quality, and Manufacturing throughout design and fabrication
• Contribute to PCB design specifications, standards, and processes while balancing electrical, manufacturing, and regulatory requirements

What You'll Need

• 5+ years of professional PCB design experience
• Strong hands-on experience with Altium Designer, including PCB layout, library management, and design release
• Experience with Cadence or Mentor Graphics is a plus
• Working knowledge of relevant IPC standards, including:
• IPC-2221
• IPC-7351
• IPC-A-600
• IPC-6012
• IPC-A-610 is a plus
• Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
• Experience with RF circuit and PCB design preferred
• Exposure to mechanical CAD tools such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD preferred
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional engineering environment
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
