Responsibilities

  • Inspect printed output for data placement, color consistency, and paper use.
  • Complete binding, banding, padding and prepare materials for delivery.
  • Perform daily maintenance, clear jams, replace consumables, and minor repairs.
  • Lead work: assign and review tasks, train staff, oversee quality control.

Job description

If so, we encourage you to apply for this Print Production Technician position with the Department of General Services, Bureau of Publications, Printing Division. This position supports a high-volume print and mail environment by operating advanced production equipment and handling time sensitive materials. As a Print Production Technician, you will perform the following duties:

  • High-Speed Printing: Operate high-volume digital printers and review job requirements to produce materials in a timely manner
  • Envelope Insertion Processes: Set up and run intelligent inserters to process time sensitive and data sensitive mail
  • Quality Control:Inspect printed output for correct data placement, consistent color, proper paper use, and successful printer recovery
  • Bindery Tasks:Complete hand-related work including binding, banding, padding, and preparing materials for delivery
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform daily maintenance, clear jams, replace consumables, and make minor repairs to digital equipment
  • Production Lead Work: Assign and review work, train staff, and oversee quality control activities for print production tasks

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment in a 24 hours per day / 5 days per week facility
  • Work schedule is third shift: 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM Sunday - Thursday, with a 30 minute lunch.
  • This position is considered essential. You will be required to work during emergencies and office closings.
  • Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Print Production Operator (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of experience in the operation of print or mail insertion equipment or similar machinery used in a print or mail production facility; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must have experience running production equipment.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
