Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a Print Room Operator in the Design Unit within the Department of Transportation. You will manage the production of large-scale plans, assist with drafting tasks, and maintain project records.

The role supports safe, efficient transportation projects across the state and offers potential telework opportunities. Responsibilities include reproduction planning, equipment care, inventory management, drafting, file oversight, and professional customer service

Qualifications

  • One year of highway or bridge surveying or related construction experience.
  • One year of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics.
  • Equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • Equipment care: maintain knowledge of reproduction equipment and report or arrange repairs.
  • Inventory management: organize and update systems for right-of-way plans and related files.

As a Print Room Operator in the Design Unit for the Department of Transportation, you play an important part in shaping safe and efficient transportation projects. Your organization and technical skills will support the creation of roads and bridges used by communities statewide. Take on a role where your work makes a visible difference!


This role manages the flow, organization, and production of large-scale plans and drawings used in design and construction projects. It also assists with drafting tasks and the maintenance of detailed project records. As a Print Room Operator, you will perform the following duties:

  • Plan Reproduction: Process requests for plan and drawing copies and ensure timely completion
  • Equipment Care: Maintain knowledge of reproduction equipment and report or arrange repairs
  • Inventory Management: Organize and update systems for right-of-way plans and related files
  • Design Drafting: Perform drafting tasks using design tools and conventional techniques for design plans
  • File Oversight: Manage and cross-reference plan sets to support accurate retrieval
  • Customer Service: Respond professionally to internal and external requests for plans and drawings

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework:You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time or seasonally ad-hoc, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Oil City. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or
  • One year of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
