Job summary

Rhoback is seeking a Print Designer in Charlottesville, VA to develop original print artwork across Men’s and Women’s lines and work with the Print Design Manager. You’ll bring pattern construction expertise, asset organization, and cross‑functional collaboration to seasonal design development.

You’ll contribute hands‑on experience with color theory, Pantone, and traditional and engineered prints while growing in a fast‑paced apparel environment at Rhoback HQ.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Textile Design, Graphic Design, Apparel Design, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of hands‑on experience in textile print design, surface design, or a related apparel design role.

Responsibilities

• Develop original print artwork from concept through final art file—including repeat patterns, engineered prints, and placement graphics that reflect Rhoback’s brand aesthetic and seasonal direction.
• Research and become an expert with our customer and the trends within the print design space.
• Support the print approval process by reviewing strike‑offs, fabric swatches, and lab dips, and maintaining well‑organized, consistently named digital files within established folder hierarchies.
• Enter and update print data in Centric PLM, following file naming conventions and ensuring records stay current from initial concept through final production approval.
• Collaborate with the Merchandising, Product Design, and Development teams to align print stories with seasonal themes, color palettes, and material constraints.
• Participate in design reviews, contribute constructive creative feedback, and assist in preparing presentation materials and physical boards for internal reviews.

The Role

We’re looking for a creative and detail-oriented Print Designer to join our Mainline Design Team at Rhoback Headquarters in Charlottesville, Virginia. In this role, you’ll help bring original print stories to life—repeat patterns, engineered prints, and placement graphics—across Men’s and Women’s product lines, working closely with the Print Design Manager. You’ll contribute creative energy and technical precision to seasonal design development while building expertise in the systems and cross‑functional relationships that drive product at Rhoback. This is a strong fit for a designer with some hands‑on experience who is eager to grow their craft in a fast‑paced, active apparel environment.

What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For

• A solid foundation in print and textile design—you understand color theory, pattern construction, apparel production, and textile materials.
• Strong color sensibility and working familiarity with the Pantone Matching System.
• Ability to work within a fast‑paced envirnonment.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; Figma experience is a bonus.
• Some experience with PLM systems is preferred (Rhoback uses Centric PLM); comfort learning new digital tools and following file management conventions.
• Exceptional organizational habits—you maintain both physical sample and digital asset systems with equal care and attention to detail.
• A collaborative mindset and clear communication skills; you give and receive feedback openly and work well across teams.

What Success Looks Like

• Print assets are delivered on schedule for each seasonal collection, enabling the team to hit key milestone dates.
• Files are consistently named, accurately versioned, and easy for any team member to navigate—PLM records are always current and complete.
• Strike‑off and lab dip feedback is clear and timely, minimizing correction rounds and keeping the production calendar on track.
• Cross‑functional partners—Merchandising, Product Design, Development—view you as a reliable, collaborative contributor to the design process.
• You’re growing in confidence: presenting creative decisions to the team, asking the right questions, and steadily owning more of the print workflow.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Textile Design, Graphic Design, Apparel Design, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of hands‑on experience in textile print design, surface design, or a related apparel design role.

Physical Requirement (if applicable)

Compensation

Base salary range: $62,000 – $93,200 per year. Please note that actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. As such, on occasion and when applicable, there is the possibility that the final, agreed‑upon base salary may be outside of the upper end of the range. Additional rewards may include performance bonuses, long‑term incentives, an FTO policy, and many other progressive benefits.
