Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Principal Wastewater Engineer to lead our wastewater discipline across NY, NJ, PA and MA. You will blend client and account leadership with technical oversight, directing major projects from planning through construction.

We expect 15+ years in municipal wastewater, PE licensure, and strong relationship-building with utilities and public agencies. Expect hybrid collaboration with a national team and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, chemical or related engineering.
• At least 15 years of progressively responsible wastewater engineering experience.
• Demonstrated success developing, managing and growing municipal wastewater client accounts.
• Strong municipal wastewater treatment planning and process design experience.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary projects from planning through construction.
• Professional Engineer license in at least one US jurisdiction, with ability to obtain licensure in NY/NJ/PA/MA.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement growth strategies for priority wastewater clients and regional accounts.
• Build trusted relationships with utility leaders, public agencies, plant operators and industry partners.
• Lead capture planning for strategic pursuits and lead proposals.
• Serve as project director or principal-in-charge for major wastewater assignments.
• Provide technical leadership for wastewater treatment planning, process evaluations, and plant upgrades.
• Oversee design criteria, process calculations, hydraulic profiles and facility layouts.
• Guide evaluations involving headworks, primary and biological treatment and nutrient removal.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams, manage scope, schedule, budget, quality and risk.
• Support bidding, construction, commissioning and start-up activities.
• Mentor project managers and technical staff for succession planning.
