Job Description
The Principal / Vice President, Insurance Solutions and Structuring is a dedicated structuring resource within 26North's Capital Formation team, reporting to the Managing Director who leads Capital Formation. This role designs and executes the insurance-eligible investment structures—including rated note feeders, collateralized fund obligations and rated private placements- that enable insurance company balance sheets to access 26North's investment strategies in a capital- and ratings-efficient manner. This individual serves as a key subject-matter resource on rating agency methodologies and insurance regulatory capital frameworks, translating the capital, regulatory and portfolio requirements of insurance clients into tailored investment solutions. Working closely with the investment teams across Private Equity, Private Credit and Direct Lending, as well as Legal, Tax, Finance and the insurance platform, this individual will help lead the structuring effort end to end and support the growth of 26North's insurance-related assets under management. This is an opportunity for an experienced structurer to help build a differentiated insurance solutions capability within a rapidly expanding platform.
Responsibilities
Structuring and Execution
- Design and execute rated note feeders, collateralized fund obligations (CFOs), rated private placements and similar vehicles that render 26North's investment strategies eligible and efficient for insurance company balance sheets
- Lead bespoke structuring transactions from initial design through execution, coordinating rating agencies, external counsel, banking partners and internal stakeholders
- Structure capital-efficient solutions across asset classes—including private credit, direct lending, asset-backed finance and private equity—supporting both vertical and horizontal placement
Rating Agency and Regulatory Capital Expertise
- Serve as a key subject-matter resource on rating agency methodologies and help manage rating agency relationships and interactions for structured solutions
- Advise on insurance regulatory capital treatment and calculations, including NAIC and risk-based capital, Solvency II, Solvency UK and Matching Adjustment, and monitor relevant statutory and regulatory developments
- Structure transactions to optimize ratings outcomes and regulatory capital efficiency for insurance company investors
Insurance Client Solutions
- Translate insurer-specific capital, regulatory and portfolio requirements into tailored investment solutions and lead structuring discussions with insurance clients
- Partner with Capital Formation to engage insurance company prospects, serving as a technical structuring lead through diligence and closing
- Maintain market intelligence on the insurance solutions landscape to continuously develop innovative structures and grow insurance assets under management
Product Development and Platform Building
- Develop new insurance-oriented investment products and structures in partnership with the investment teams and firm leadership
- Build repeatable structuring frameworks, documentation and processes that support the scaling of the insurance solutions effort
- Identify opportunities to adapt existing 26North strategies into insurance-eligible formats
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Partner with investment teams across Private Equity, Private Credit and Direct Lending to align structures with portfolio construction and investor objectives
- Collaborate with Legal, Tax, Finance and Compliance to execute transactions and satisfy documentation and regulatory requirements
- Coordinate with the 26North insurance platform, including 26North Re, on structures relevant to the firm’s own balance sheet
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or a related field (CFA, FRM or CAIA a plus)
- 6-12 years of relevant experience in insurance solutions, structured finance, structured credit or insurance-focused asset management at an asset manager, investment bank or insurer
- Demonstrated experience structuring and executing rated feeder funds, collateralized fund obligations (CFOs), rated private placements and/or other structured solutions for insurance company investors
- Strong working knowledge of rating agency methodologies and direct experience managing rating agency processes across one or more agencies (e.g., KBRA, S&P, Moody's, Fitch, AM Best)
- Working knowledge of insurance regulatory capital frameworks and calculations, including NAIC and risk-based capital, Solvency II, Solvency UK and Matching Adjustment, as well as statutory reporting considerations
- Solid understanding of credit and structured products across public and private asset classes, with the ability to assess how underlying assets drive structural and ratings outcomes
- Experience leading transactions end to end and coordinating rating agencies, external counsel, banking partners and internal stakeholders
- Strong technical and analytical skills, including proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint and familiarity with cash flow modeling; Python or SQL a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to distill complex structuring concepts for senior internal and external audiences
- Strong ownership mindset with the ability to lead multiple workstreams, drive processes and deliver under tight deadlines

The base salary for this position is expected to be between $175,000.00 and $250,000.00. The base salary offered to the chosen candidate will be commensurate with a candidate’s relevant experience and other qualifications for the position, as determined by the Company in its sole discretion.
