The Opportunity

Ulteig is seeking talented and motivated candidates for a Principal Transmission Line Engineer role. This position involves supporting, managing, and leading transmission & distribution projects across Power and Renewable sectors. The role includes designing and coordinating High Voltage (69kV-500kV) transmission lines using PLS-CADD software, developing team skills, and serving as a primary client-facing Subject Matter Expert (SME) to aid in team growth.

What You'll Do

The ideal candidate possesses excellent problem-solving skills; applies advanced techniques, theory, and practices to complex high voltage and extra high voltage electric transmission line projects. Responsibilities include facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration, acting as a client contact to define project scope and requirements, developing construction documents, and ensuring quality and compliance. Deliverables include design criteria, drawings, structure details, and specifications. The engineer will also estimate costs, specify materials, participate in training, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to internal standards and processes.

What We Expect from You

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution; Master’s preferred.
• At least 20 years of relevant transmission line engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required; multiple state licensure preferred.
• Licensed Structural Engineer (SE) preferred.
• Expertise in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE, with ability to train others.
• Extensive knowledge of transmission line design, routing, structural analysis, and clearance analysis.
• Experience working with or for a Utility.
• Proven positive client relationship management.
• Ability to manage workload, lead training, review project documents, and collaborate across disciplines.
• Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience as a subject matter expert and industry involvement preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, MFAD/LPILE preferred.
• Highly motivated for team success and professional growth.
• Authorization to work permanently in the US.

Additional details: Target base salary range is $155,500 - $210,300, depending on skills, experience, and location. The position will be posted for at least 3 days and up to 60 days or until filled.
