Job summary

Merck is seeking a Principal Scientist to provide strategic biomarker leadership across Cardiovascular & Metabolic and Infectious Diseases/Vaccines portfolios. You will shape translational hypotheses, lead integrated strategies, and influence program decisions through data-driven insights.

The role requires a Ph.D./M.D. and a track record in translational biomarker science, with collaboration across discovery, clinical development, biostatistics, and regulatory teams.

Qualifications

• Significant experience translating disease biology into biomarker strategies.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams in a matrix environment.
• Strong analytical skills translating datasets into actionable conclusions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead integrated biomarker strategies across CVM and ID/Vaccines programs.
• Translate disease biology into translational hypotheses and biomarker approaches.
• Define how biomarkers inform development questions and go/no-go decisions.
• Communicate strategies and results clearly to stakeholders.
• Mentor biomarker scientists and support external collaborations.
